Radio Morena offers special programs to celebrate selected important dates such as Our Anniversary, New Year's Eve, Christmas, Carnaval and Saint John.
On each occasion, Morena attracts almost 100% of the audience share. The streets in Itabuna City are so deserted, you can hear an echo while driving through them.
Folia 98
"Party 98" is a five-day musical marathon celebrating the Carnaval of Itabuna. During these five days, Morena plays only "Carnaval Music", 24 hours a day, without any commercials. That totals almost 120 hours of party music! It also results in an unbelievable audience monopoly for us.
Xamego Da Morena
This is another five-day marathon featuring only Forro Music, a popular genre from the NorthEast of Brazil. It is the "official" music for June, St. John's month. The Xamego plays only music by the best artists from Forro and always grabs another nearly total audience share.
Morena's Anniversary
Morena offers a full day of special programming on December 6, playing some of the best music from our 8,000 CD library, all without commercials. We give away some very nice gifts to our listeners, who are invited to participate by telephone. We hear from almost 5,000 listeners each time and gain yet another almost 100% audience share.
Mega Special Caetano Veloso
We annually present a full four-hour special on the life and music of Caetano Veloso. She is recognized as one of the greatest composers in all of Brazil and the number one from Bahia. This occurs annually in the month of December.
Mega Special Grapiuna Music
This is another eagerly awaited four-hour special, featuring the best artists from Grapiuna Music, an exclusive feature from Morena FM. This occurs annually in the month of December.
The Christmas Special
Another tradition at Morena is the presentation of a two-hour special featuring the great pop artists like Madonna and Gloria Estefan. They will be heard singing their versions of the most popular Christmas songs. It is heard every December 24th at 9pm (midnightGMT).
Regional Yearly Review
This is the only yearly review of the music scene on regional radio. It features the events, the personalities and the music which distinguished the previous year's history. It is presented in twelve segments, each one devoted to a single month. The Review is heard every year in the month of January.
